EMDR Kit Evolution: Hardware & Compatibility Guide

At EMDR Kit, we are continually improving and updating both our hardware and software to ensure therapists have access to the most reliable and clinically advanced tools.

The details below reflect the major milestones and easily identifiable changes in our product history. Please note that while we no longer sell older versions, we strive to maintain as much cross-compatibility as possible through our app.

1. EMDR Kit Wireless (Major Redesign: 2023)

The Wireless system transitioned from a "contact-based" charging system to an "inductive" system in 2023.

3. Headphones (Visual Identification)

We no longer sell legacy headphone models, but they are still in use by long-time users.

  • Current Version: Round ear pads for both the EMDR Kit Classic and Wireless. They are basically the same headphone. For the Wireless you will use the Bluetooth option. For the Classic EMDR Kit, you will connect it with the controller with the jack cable.

  • Legacy Version: The older headphones are still compatible with the new equipment. Also, the new equipment can also still make use of the older headphones. Square ear pads (wireless) or larger HAMA headphones (classic). (Note: These are no longer produced or supported for replacement).

Can I use my own headphones with the EMDR Kit?

Yes, absolutely. You are never "locked in" to using our specific headphones.

  • For the Wireless Kit (App-based): The EMDR Kit app uses the native audio output of your smartphone or tablet. If your own Bluetooth or wired headset is compatible with your device, it will work perfectly for the auditory bilateral stimulation in our app.

  • For the Classic Kit: The Classic Controller features a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Any standard wired headphones or earbuds can be plugged directly into the controller.

Summary of Service Policy

  1. Sales: We do not sell legacy versions. All new orders receive the new specifications.

  2. Wireless App: The app for the EMDR Kit Wireless supports all Wireless versions (Legacy & Current) but might be limited in the number of newer options.

  3. Replacements: If a Legacy Pulsator breaks, it cannot be replaced with a single New Pulsator because it won't charge in the old base. It is then best to upgrade to the New Pulsators + Docking Station or a new full set.
