Why does the app need Location Services?
When you install the EMDR Kit app on an Android device, you will be prompted to grant "Location" permissions. It is important to understand that our app does not track your physical location or store any GPS data. This requirement is a standard technical rule set by the Android operating system for Bluetooth connectivity.
Bluetooth Scanning and Android Policy
On many versions of Android, the software that handles Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) scanning is bundled with the Location Services settings. Because the app needs to "scan" the room to find your LightTube and Pulsators, Android categorizes this as a location-based action.
Device Discovery: To see your EMDR Kit components in the "Devices" menu, the app must be allowed to scan for nearby Bluetooth signals.
Privacy Assurance: EMDR Kit does not collect, store, or share your location. We only use this permission to facilitate the wireless handshake between your tablet/phone and your therapy equipment.
How to Enable Permissions
If your devices are not appearing in the app, you may need to check your system settings:
Go to Settings: Open the "Settings" app on your Android device.
Apps & Notifications: Find the "EMDR Kit" app in your list of installed applications.
Permissions: Ensure that "Location" (and Bluetooth/Nearby Devices) is set to "Allow while using the app."
Restart the App: Close the EMDR Kit app completely and reopen it to refresh the device scan.
For iOS (iPhone & iPad) Users
Apple handles Bluetooth permissions differently. On iOS, you will see a specific prompt asking for "Bluetooth" permission rather than Location. You must select "Allow" to enable the app to communicate with your hardware.
Tip: Connection Stability
If you have granted all permissions and the hardware still isn't appearing, ensure that GPS/Location is actually toggled "On" in your device's quick-settings pull-down menu. Some Android devices will block Bluetooth scanning if the global Location toggle is turned off.
