Can We Share? How to Use Single or Multiple EMDR Kits in a Shared Practice

The Professional Guide to Shared Practices: Sharing or Scaling Your EMDR Kits

Whether you are a solo practitioner sharing a space or a large clinic with multiple therapy rooms, our equipment is designed to adapt to your professional workflow. This guide covers how to effectively share a single EMDR Kit or scale your practice with multiple Wireless sets running simultaneously.

Scenario 1: Sharing One Kit Between Colleagues

It is entirely possible for multiple therapists to use the same EMDR Kit Wireless or Classic within a shared practice. Since the Wireless hardware connects via Bluetooth to individual smartphones or tablets, the kit can transition between users throughout the day.

The Professional Handoff

The Wireless components (Light Tube and Pulsators) connect to one device at a time. To ensure a smooth transition:

  • Disconnect or Close the App: The current user should press on "Disconnect all" within the device menu of the EMDR Kit app or completely close the EMDR Kit app on their device. This "releases" the Bluetooth connection and makes the hardware available for the next person.

  • Briefly Toggle Bluetooth: If the next user has trouble finding the devices, the previous user can briefly turn off Bluetooth on their phone to ensure no "background" connection is lingering.

  • Connect the New Device: The new user simply opens the app on their own device, navigates to the "Devices" menu, and selects the components to start their session.

Individual Preferences

A major advantage of using separate phones or tablets with one kit is that each therapist maintains their own unique settings. Your saved Presets and Profiles (speed, color, and intensity) are stored on your individual phone or tablet, so your colleague’s preferences won't overwrite yours.

Scenario 2: Using Multiple Kits in One Location (Scaling)

A common concern in larger clinics is whether multiple Wireless kits will interfere with each other in adjacent rooms. With our 2023+ generation hardware, we have eliminated the risk of "signal hijacking" through Active Pairing.

The "Active Pairing" Advantage

Our latest hardware does not broadcast a Bluetooth signal 24/7. It only becomes "visible" to the app when you intentionally wake it up:

  • Light Tube: Becomes findable only after you press the physical power button.

  • Pulsators: Become findable only after a firm shake (Shake-to-Wake).

Because of this, your app will only "see" the specific equipment you have just activated for your session. Furthermore, each component has a Unique Digital ID displayed in the app, ensuring you always connect to the correct set in your room. If you ever accidentally see a colleague's device, you can simply ignore it or disconnect with one tap. Devices can also be sorted by signal strength. Usually the strongest signal is the device you want to connect.

Best Practices for Shared Environments

To maintain a high-functioning practice, we recommend these three pillars of "Kit Etiquette":

1. The Charging Routine

Since the kit is a shared resource, establish a strict routine.

  • Pulsators: Always place them back on the Docking Station between sessions.

  • Light Tube: Charge it at the end of every day or during lunch breaks to ensure a colleague never encounters a low battery during a critical session.

2. Hygiene

In a shared environment, hygiene is important. Use non-alcoholic disinfectant wipes to wipe down the Pulsators, Light Tube, and Headphones after every use. Our professional industrial finish is designed to withstand frequent cleaning without degrading.

3. Firmware Synchronicity

When an update for the Light Tube or Pulsators becomes available, any connected device can perform the update. Once updated, the improvements are immediately available to all colleagues who use that hardware.
