What is the "Limiter" function and how do I use it?
The Limiter function in the EMDR Kit app is a tool that allows you to pre-set a specific duration for your stimulation sets. By using this feature, the LightTube, Pulsators, and Headphones will automatically stop once the chosen limit is reached, providing a clear and consistent endpoint to your set.
During a standard running session, the Sets (passes) and Time are always visible on the main screen and will count upward until you press stop. However, when the Limiter is active, the app will count down to zero instead of up, letting you know exactly how much of the set remains.
What can the Limiter do?
This feature is designed for clinicians who prefer to automate the length of their sets, allowing them to focus entirely on the client without needing to manually count passes or monitor a stopwatch. The Limiter offers two ways to define the length of a set:
Count by Sets (Passes): You can set the hardware to stop after a specific number of "passes" (the movement of the light from one side of the LightTube to the other).
Count by Time (Seconds): You can set a specific time limit in seconds. Once the timer runs out, the stimulation ends automatically.
How to set up and deactivate the Limiter
You can find and adjust the Limiter settings directly within the EMDR Kit app:
Open the App: Ensure your devices are connected and you are on the session control screen.
Locate the Limiter Icon: Look for the Limiter or "Timer" icon, often represented by a small clock symbol.
Activate Limiter: Press the toggle to switch the Limiter function ON.
Choose Sets or Time: Select Sets to count by passes or select Time to count by seconds.
Select Your Value: Set the field to the number of passes or the number of seconds you desire for your next sets.
Start Stimulation: Return to the main menu. When you press "Start," the app will begin counting down.
(Optionally): Deactivate: To return to manual control, follow the same steps and simply toggle the Limiter function OFF.
Flexibility During Sessions
The Limiter is entirely optional. If you prefer to have manual control over the length of your sets, you can simply leave the Limiter off.
If you are using the Limiter but decide you want to stop the set earlier than planned, you can still use the standard "Stop" button at any time. To start a new set with the same limit, just press "Start" again; the counter will reset to your chosen value automatically.
