Troubleshooting the EMDR Kit Wireless Headphones

Wireless Headphones Troubleshooting Guide

1. Connection and Pairing Issues

The Wireless Headphones pair directly to your smartphone or tablet as a standard Bluetooth device. They are not managed through the app's "Choose Devices" menu.

  • Powering On/Off: Press the large button briefly. You will hear a rising tone when it is ON and a descending tone when it is shutting down.

  • Standard Pairing: Enable Bluetooth in your phone's main settings and select the headphones from the list.

  • Manual Pairing Mode: If the headphones aren't appearing, hold the Volume button and the On/Off button simultaneously for 7 seconds to force pairing mode.

  • Automatic Reconnection: Once paired, they will automatically reconnect whenever Bluetooth and the headphones are both powered on.

2. Audio Control & Android Workaround

Manage your stimuli settings through the EMDR Kit app once the headphones are connected to your device.

  • Accessing Settings: Tap the Headphone icon in the app's main menu.

  • Customization: Adjust volume, choose sound types, or enable a Random Interval for irregular rhythms.

  • Independent Speed: Enable "Use different speed" if you want the auditory pips to move at a different pace than the light dot.

  • Android App Workaround: If you experience no sound on an Android device, follow this specific sequence:

    1. Turn on your headphones before opening the app.

    2. Verify the headphone status is shown as ON within the app.

    3. If it fails, close the app completely (swipe it away from your background apps) and reopen it.

3. Phone Settings: Audio Balance & Mono Audio

If sound is only in one ear or is unbalanced, the issue is often within your phone’s accessibility settings.

For iPhone Users:

  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual.

  • Balance: Ensure the slider is set exactly to the center.

  • Mono Audio: Ensure this is OFF. If enabled, bilateral stimulation will not work.

For Android Users:

  • Go to Settings and search for Accessibility.

  • Find the Hearing or Audio section.

  • Audio Balance: Ensure the slider is centered.

  • Mono Audio: Ensure this is disabled to allow the sound to move from left to right.

4. Charging and Power

Monitor the LED indicators to ensure your session isn't interrupted by low power.

  • Blinking Red: Headphones are currently charging.

  • Solid Green/Blue: Battery is fully charged.

  • Low Power Warning: If audio begins to stutter or the connection drops, connect to a USB power source immediately.

5. Maintenance and Care

  • Hygiene: Use a disinfectant wipe on the ear pads after each session. Avoid excess liquid.

  • Storage: Always store the headphones in the transport bag to protect the frame and internal speakers.
