Can multiple colleagues work with one EMDR Kit Wireless?
Yes, it is entirely possible for multiple therapists to use the same EMDR Kit Wireless within a shared practice or clinic. Because the hardware connects via Bluetooth to individual smartphones or tablets, the kit can be easily transitioned between different users to facilitate EMDR throughout the day.
To ensure a smooth transition between colleagues and maintain a professional workflow, we recommend following these simple guidelines:
How to Switch Between Users
The EMDR Kit Wireless components (Light Tube and Pulsators) can only be actively controlled by one device at a time. To hand over the kit to a colleague:
Close the App: The current user should completely close the EMDR Kit app on their smartphone or tablet. This "releases" the Bluetooth connection, making the hardware available for the next person to discover.
Turn Off Bluetooth: If the next user is having trouble finding the devices, the previous user can briefly turn off Bluetooth on their device to ensure there is no "background" connection lingering that might block the new signal.
Connect the New Device: The new user can then open the EMDR Kit app on their own device, navigate to the "Devices" menu, and select the components to start their session.
Individual Preferences and Settings
One of the main advantages of using separate devices with one kit is that each therapist can maintain their own unique session preferences:
Saved Presets: Each therapist’s smartphone or tablet will store its own presets and "Profiles" This means you can save your preferred speed, color, and intensity settings for specific protocols without affecting your colleague's saved configurations.
Firmware Updates: When an update for the LightTube or Pulsators becomes available, any connected device can perform the update. Once updated, the hardware improvements are available to all colleagues immediately.
Best Practices for Shared Use
Charging Routine: Since the kit will be used by multiple people, it is helpful to establish a routine where the Pulsators are placed back on the Docking Station between sessions to ensure it is always ready for the next colleague. Also it is good practice to charge the Light Tube regularly so colleagues don't have to charge it during use.
Hygiene: In a shared environment, it is even more important to wipe down the Pulsators and Headphones with non-alcoholic disinfectant wipes between every session.
