Synchronization of the EMDR Kit Classic

How are the different parts synchronized? (EMDR Kit Classic)

The EMDR Kit Classic is a fully integrated system where the visual, tactile, and auditory stimuli are hard-wired to a single central Controller. This physical connection ensures that the Light Tube, Pulsators, and Headphones always operate in a consistent rhythm, providing a balanced experience for the client.

The synchronization of the hardware is based on the movement of the light dot across the Light Tube to ensure the tactile and auditory signals match the visual sweep.

The Synchronization Logic

While all components work together, they are triggered by different points in the light's cycle to provide a cohesive rhythmic flow:

  • Pulsators (Tactile): The vibration is triggered at the middle point. When the light dot crosses the exact center of the Light Tube moving toward the right, the right Pulsator vibrates. When it crosses the center moving toward the left, the left Pulsator vibrates.

  • Headphones (Auditory): The sound is synced to the end points. A sound is played in the right ear when the light dot reaches the far right side of the Light Tube. Conversely, a sound is played in the left ear when the light dot reaches the far left side.

Speed and Rhythm

Because the Classic kit is a unified system, all connected parts share the same frequency. When you adjust the Speed using the buttons on the Controller, it changes the tempo for the Light Tube, Pulsators, and Headphones simultaneously.

  • Unified Speed Control: The EMDR Kit Classic does not have an option to set different speeds for individual parts. The rhythm of the light dot always dictates the rhythm of the vibration and sound.

  • Automatic Calibration: You do not need to manually sync the parts. As long as they are plugged into the correct sockets on the Controller (Light, Pulsator, and Headphone), they will follow the central timing automatically.

Professional Practice Tip

If you find that the multi-sensory stimuli are too intense for a specific client when used all at once, you can simply unplug the modality you do not wish to use. For example, by removing the Headphones, you can focus strictly on visual and tactile stimulation while keeping the remaining parts perfectly in sync.
