Troubleshooting the EMDR Kit Classic Light Tube
To provide the most accurate solution for your wired equipment, we first need to identify which version of the Classic Light Tube you are using.
Identify Your Model
New Classic Model: The Light Tube and the Controller are both dark grey. The cable connecting the Light Tube to the Controller uses a USB connector.
Old Classic Model: The Light Tube and the Controller are both light grey. The cable connecting the Light Tube to the Controller uses a circular connector with 5 metal points (DIN).
1. Issues with the NEW Classic Model (Dark Grey / USB)
If your Light Tube is damaged, the light is not behaving as intended, or there is no light at all, please follow these diagnostic steps:
The "Wiggle Test" (Cable Health)
With the controller turned on, gently wiggle the cable where it connects to the tube and where it enters the controller.
Observation: Does moving or wiggling the cable cause the light to flicker, turn on, or change behavior?
Result: If moving the cable impacts the issue, it is highly likely that the internal wiring of the cable is faulty.
Clear the Connection
Dust or debris can obstruct the digital signal between the devices.
Step: Detach the cable from the controller. Forcefully blow into the Light Tube port on the controller and the cable connector itself to clear any obstruction. Reconnect firmly and test again.
Check the Mode (Light not behaving as intended)
If the light is only appearing at the outer edges, ensure you are not in Blinking Mode.
Step: Check the controller screen. If it indicates "Blinking," use the menu buttons to switch back to "Sweeping."
Next Step: If these steps do not resolve the issue, please fill out the Troubleshooter Form on our website so our team can assist you.
2. Issues with the OLD Classic Model (Light Grey / DIN)
If your older light grey model is malfunctioning, it is often related to connection points or specific settings on the controller.
Bad Contact / Dust
Step: Disconnect the Light Tube cable from the controller. Blow forcefully into the port on the controller and the connector on the wire. Reconnect and check if the light returns.
Inspect the Connector Pins
The circular DIN connector is sensitive to physical damage.
Step: Inspect the end of the Light Tube cable. You should see 6 metal pins and one black pin in the middle.
Observation: If any pins are bent, missing, or pushed inside the casing, the tube will not function correctly.
Check for "Music Mode"
If the controller is set to Music Mode, the Light Tube and Pulsators are automatically disabled.
Step: Turn on the controller and press the M button once.
Step: If the screen displays "MUSIC," press the arrow buttons until the screen reads "SWEEPING."
Verify Intensity Levels
It is possible the light is functioning, but the intensity is too low to see in a bright room.
Step: Press the + button on the controller next to "Volume/Intensity" to ensure the brightness is turned up.
Check the Mode
Ensure the device is not accidentally set to Blinking Mode if you are experiencing the Light Dot only appearing at the outer edges of the Light Tube. Use the controller menu to verify you are in Sweeping Mode.
Still Need Help?
