International Shipping & Customs: Standard vs. DDP Explained

When ordering EMDR equipment internationally, you may encounter the term DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). This shipping method is designed to provide a "peace of mind" experience by handling all cross-border costs upfront.

What is DDP?

DDP means that all local taxes (VAT/GST), import duties, and customs clearance fees are included in your final total at checkout.

How it works for your location

The availability of DDP depends on your specific shipping address:

🇺🇸 United States

For all our US customers, shipping is automatically DDP.

• All-Inclusive: Import duties and taxes are already included in the price shown on our webshop.

• Direct Delivery: There are no additional costs or actions required upon delivery.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

Since the UK is outside the EU, our webshop prices for UK customers are tax-exclusive. However, UK legislation requires VAT and duties for any order valued above £135. You have two choices at checkout:

• Option 1: DDP Shipping (Recommended)

  • You pay all UK VAT, import duties, and handling fees upfront.

  • The Benefit: Your package clears automatically; you will not receive additional invoices from FedEx.

• Option 2: Standard Shipping

  • You pay only for the product and transport at checkout.

  • The Process: Upon arrival in the UK, FedEx will contact you to collect UK VAT, duties, and a mandatory disbursement/handling fee.

🇪🇺 European Union (EU)

If you are located within the EU, you do not need to worry about DDP or import duties.

• Taxes Included: All applicable VAT is already included in the price shown.

• No Customs: As we ship from the Netherlands, there are no customs checks. Your equipment arrives like a domestic delivery.

All Other International Locations

For most other countries outside the EU/US, Standard Shipping applies.

• Prices are shown tax-exclusive.

• Your local customs office will assess VAT and duties upon arrival.

• The courier will contact you to collect these payments before final delivery.

Important: Your Responsibility

If you choose Standard Shipping (where DDP is an option) or if DDP is not available in your region:

The customer is solely responsible for all local VAT, import duties, and courier handling fees. These charges are mandatory under your local tax legislation. Opting out of DDP does not waive these fees; it simply moves the payment requirement from the point of purchase to the point of delivery. Failure to pay these fees may result in the package being returned to us at your expense.
