Credit Card Payment Failed
My credit card payment failed. What should I do?
If your credit card payment was declined at checkout, it is usually due to security measures implemented by your bank or our payment processor. Because we are based in the Netherlands, our checkout requires a specific security protocol (3D Secure) that is standard in Europe but less common in the rest of the world. This discrepancy, or the international nature of the purchase, often causes transactions to be flagged as "unusual" by the issuing bank.
Here is how to resolve the issue:
1. Check your 3D Secure / MFA
Most European and international business cards now require 3D Secure (e.g., Verified by Visa or Mastercard ID Check) to process payments.
Ensure you have your banking app or SMS-token device ready.
Make sure you didn't accidentally close the pop-up window or tab used for authentication during checkout.
2. Verify Address Matching
Our security system performs a strict match between the information provided and your bank's records to prevent fraud.
Ensure that the billing address entered at checkout exactly matches the address registered with your credit card provider.
3. Use PayPal Guest Checkout (Alternative Method)
If your card continues to fail due to international security flags, we highly recommend trying PayPal as your checkout option.
You do not need a PayPal account. You can select PayPal and simply pay with your credit card through their portal as a guest.
PayPal’s processing often bypasses the specific European 3DS requirement for international users, allowing the transaction to go through smoothly.
4. Contact your Bank
If the technical side worked but the payment was still declined, your bank likely blocked the transaction for your protection.
Call the number on the back of your card.
Tell them you are attempting an international purchase from SE Factory in the Netherlands.
Ask them to "whitelist" the transaction and try the checkout again.
5. Verify Your Limit
Business credit cards often have a single-transaction limit that is lower than the total credit limit.
Ensure the order total (including shipping and any applicable tax) does not exceed your daily or per-transaction spending limit.
